About[caption id="attachment_290" align="aligncenter" width="300"] Shydel, standing on top of Table Mountain in Cape Town, South Africa.[/caption]
Shydel James is a lifestyle and entertainment writer and editor whose work has been featured in VIBE, King, Uptown and JET magazine. In addition to having written for Blackenterprise.com, Essence.com and Thedailymeal.com, the New Jersey native also has an article published in JENdA: A Journal of Culture and African Women Studies—and is currently the staff writer at Upscale magazine, where he pens cover stories, celebrity features, food and travel reviews.
Shydel holds a BA in theatre from SUNY Empire State College and is a graduate of the Film and Television Performance Program at The New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts. Some questionable roles in several low-budget little-known (or seen) films and obscure Off-Off Broadway plays were enough to earn him Screen Actors Guild and Actors’ Equity Association memberships.
When Shydel isn’t imbibing large quantities of rum-spiked Slurpees or noshing on light-skinned Oreos, he can be found spilling his guts to a hardcover journal and thinking up fun, new ways to procrastinate working on his first novel.
